Ask yourself. How do you grab your customers' attention? What makes your ads stand out from the many others?
Mostly likely the answer is NOTHING.
Don’t feel bad because I was in the same situation. As business owners we don’t have much time so we copy similar marketing ads in hope it generates a positive Return on investment.
The downside is, most of the time it doesn't work.
Just a continuous waste of $$$$. $$$$$ that could be used elsewhere in your business.
Butttttttt, it’s time to end that.
After years of research, I learned the HEADLINE is the key to all ads and there are 3 MAJOR mistakes business owners make when creating them. By the end of this article you will not only create better ads, but attract more sales than Black Friday. Let's get into it.
Don’t be a ROBOT, Be a Human
A.I. is taking over the world, but not always in a good way. Yes, it reduces the amount of time you spend writing, but it sounds like a ROBOT and your customers can tell. No one wants to interact with a machine when they can speak to a human.
Think about it. If you’re selling coffee to potential customers, what would your opening pitch be?
Would it be?
“Hello and welcome to the # coffee shop in the world, where every cup is crafted with care. How are you doing today?”
OR
Hey coffee lovers, if you need a hot cup of energy, we’re your best choice.
See the difference. One sounds like a robot script and the other sounds like the everyday person.
Relatable
2nd! If you have nothing in common with your customers, it will show and they will move on from your ads. Whether it’s email, text message or ad posters, people only respond to something that speaks directly to them.
Example:
If you're a coffee brand, consider what the average coffee consumer's purpose is.
Most companies speak on
Where the coffee beans were harvest
The type of beans
Ingredients.
Which is absolutely the wrong way to attract them.
Instead, we all know coffee consumers need their cup of JO because they’re TIRED and need ENERGY
Soooooooo
The Ad should mention how the coffee will give them long lasting energy to focus on your daily task.
Good Example:
A: No more Anxiety or caffeine crash. With this coffee, you will be energized and focused for the long day ahead.
Bad Examples:
Our coffee is made with REAL Arabian beans from Italy
Just Ask?
Now, the most important component to ANY headline is to “JUST ASK” If you’re running a coffee shop, the first statement to your ideal customers would be
ARE YOU TIRED?
DO YOU NEED ENERGY?
These will grab the average coffee consumer's attention because it’s a YES or NO answer.
Anybody with low energy or lacking sleep will be hooked like a fish at the Bisbee’s Black and BLue Marlin Tournament. Because it sounds like a human interaction & relatable to your ideal customers.
With these 3 components, each headline will be successful.
